superior slime mold

I choose slime mold to become my superior creature!
oh and if anybody want to color it – you don’t need to read that text wall – you are allowed to do that – but send me a note after it is done (but pleas donload it for a higher solution)

Slime mold’s are interesting creature on our earth, they can digestive nearly everything, can grow up to gigantical sizes but at the same time- their offspring is small enough for eating bacteria. Some slime mold (e.g. Physarum polycephalum ) show even signs of intelligence! Here you can see one of them solving a maze [link] (Physarum polycephalum does it better – but I couldn’t find a good video of that)

Now up to those creature I made;
From left to right;


1. Tthe walking form, a part of the slime mold evolved up to a brain like structure that can control the other, different nucleus – this was the beginning of the end of the world! Because as soon as those slime mold learned to think, they started to eat nearly every biological product they could reach – only in extreme dry areas and in saltwater was a chance for other creatures for surviving – but because of the loss of food the mold began to die, except some little groups that evolved eye like structures, weapon like ones and structures to protect against drying. The brain structure could form them up to a usable creature like predator – this was the for all other life forms!


2. As soon as a slime mold begin to dry or to die – they begin creating spores – sometimes the complete air is filled up with spores and it become impossible to see anything – the brain can also decide to create spores – normally this happens in big colonies


3. When the food was gone and some of the slime molds begin to evolve animal like creatures, others got genetical material of plants, algae and photosynthetic bacteria and become photosynthetic active!


4. Some other life forms are still on the planet – bacteria – but only because they have a really high reproduction rate. But even they became really rare, because the as soon as spores hatch, the young slime mold start to hunt bacteria and eat them – the fully grown one still does that, too

The habitat;
The complete planet become one single and gigantical cell! Theoretical…
It still have many different nucleus and therefore different species – but they all life in one gigantical cell, controlled by a gigantical protein made brain.
On top of high mountains grow the spores, on sunny and wet places grow the plant like structures and making energy for the complete organism. In some areas the brain decides to split up some small walkers – they look for water or food, as son as they found it they bring it back to the cell and fuse with it and become a part of the master cell again. Some fear that the mastermind could become smart enough for sending spores up to other planets – maybe that's the reason why it still produces spores after there is no place left on that planet without slime mold….
